As Malaysia’s first thrilling aerial experience, Skyscape at Komtar JBCC’s rooftop is the newest attraction pulling travellers to JB. The crescent-shaped observation deck’s see-through “bridge” allows you to (literally) stand over the super busy cityscape.

That’s not all! The Skyscape boasts of an “Aerial Entertainment Space”, created for the entire family. This indoor space offers fun activities like interactive floor games, an LED tunnel, virtual reality games, and even a mini theatre.

If you still can’t decide where to go in JB, how about spending time with the animals? Johor Zoo was built in 1928 and houses 100 different species of animals. Your kids will love it here when you show them the Indo-Chinese tigers, gorillas, lions and elephants. Make some furry friends, check out the aviary, and go boat-paddling in the small lake of the zoo. You can even take your kids to feed the camels.

Visiting the grand palace of Johor Bahru should definitely have a place in your itinerary. Built by Sultan Abu Bakar of Johor in 1866, this palace used to be the official residence of the ruler of the Malay state. If you are into architecture, you will have a blast here looking at the blend of Malay and Western building styles.

Remember to look up to the unique blue roof of the palace. Take your kids to the museum to check out the antique pieces and vintage items used by the royal family back then. A little history lesson never hurts, right?

Note: Istana Besar is the oldest place in Johor and is perfect for history lovers. The museum is temporarily closed for renovation, but you can see the grand palace from a distance to admire its unique architecture.

Sometimes Singaporeans go to Johor Bahru only to eat lok lok. Lok Lok is JB’s favourite street food where a variety of meat, seafood and vegetables are cooked in a skewer and served with delicious dipping sauce. Aren’t you drooling already?

There are several stalls and restaurants in the street serving lok lok. Some of the best in JB include KK Lok Lok Food Truck, Mr Lok Lok restaurant and Bro Lok Lok Food Truck which locals recommend. Pasar Karat is probably the best place in Johor Bahru to be at night when the flea market lights up after the sunset creating a unique shopping atmosphere. This traditional building in Johor Bahru is the world’s first Hindu temple made up of glass. Even though it is a Hindu temple, you can see the statues of Christ and Buddha inside the glass edifice. Since both the exterior and interior of the temple are constructed using glass, it creates a beautiful kaleidoscopic effect when the sunlight falls on it.
