And it just so happens that the capital is the jewel in Malaysia’s theme park crown.

1. Berjaya Times Square Theme Park

No list of best theme parks in KL (or Malaysia, for that matter) is complete without a mention of Berjaya Times Square Theme Park. This massive, sprawling behemoth of a theme park is surprisingly hidden inside a mall, making it the largest indoor theme park in Malaysia.

Three-storeys of fun, and 33,000 feet of adventure since 2003, there’s no better place to take a break than at this OG attraction of entertainment with rip-roaring rides, quirky installments, VR, and the Fantasy Garden that’s great for families with young kids.

Technology runs the world, at least at Shah Alam’s i-City Theme Park, an attraction that’s an hour’s drive from Kuala Lumpur.

It’s one of the best places you could bring a picky friend who doesn’t know what to do for fun because your options are endless here, from the winter wonderland that is SnoWalk to the spooky surrounds of the Horror House.

Pro tip: stay here after sunset to shoot the gorgeous lights at The City of Digital Lights, the theme park’s iconic spot.

14. Sunway Lost World of Tambun

A petting zoo, mineral hot springs, a Siberian tiger feeding show, and multiple theme parks and even a water park, there’s seriously something for everyone at the Lost World of Tambun theme park. The only thing is that it’s almost a 3-hour drive away from the capital. But if you have some time and you’re up for a family trip over the weekend, there’s no better place to go.

This sprawling mega-attraction that lies in the middle of the rainforest is so huge that you’d probably need a few days just to enjoy a visit here. However, must-do attractions include the Lost World Water Park, Lost World Amusement Park, Lost World Tin Valley, as well as a trip down to detox at the Steam Cave.
