The card is valid only for international travellers.
The card can be collected from either Haneda Airport or HIS Shinjuku.
The card can only be used within the network area, including JR East lines in the Tokyo metropolitan area, as well as subways, buses, and the Tokyo Monorail that connects Haneda Airport with Tokyo. It is not valid for travel on the Shinkansen Bullet Train.
The card can also be used for certain transportation systems in the Sendai and Niigata, Hokkaido, Tokai, West Japan and Kyushu areas.
The card cannot be used for continuous travel between areas. The use of transportation in one area must be ended in that same area. When crossing from one area to another, leave the ticket gate first and re-enter.
Really glad I booked this ahead, as JR East had stopped public sales of the SUICA card when I arrived. Not only was I able to buy a SUICA card, it was already topped up so I could use it immediately.
We exchange our cards at Haneda T3 airport. The sign of the counter is not big and clear so have to pay attention to look for it. The counter is at at centre of level 2 of the arrival hall. We need it for buses and some of the local trains. Glad we got it.
Collection place easy to find. Service easy just show qr code then can collect.
Good: Quick confirmation. Room for improvement: more venues to collect card from instead of the only 2 outlets.
