The Petronas Twin Towers (or KLCC twin towers) in Malaysia are  theworld’s tallest twin towers and a quintessential Kuala Lumpur landmark.

But how tall is KLCC exactly? Standing at a dizzying 452 metres (1483 feet), the towers offer unrivalled views of the city skyline. Apart from their incredible height, the Petronas Twin Towers are notable for blending motifs from Malaysia’s Islamic culture with a modern aesthetic. Here’s how to visit and what to do there.

How to visit Petronas Twin Towers

1. Buying Petronas Twin Towers tickets

Skip the long queues by booking tickets for a KLCC tour online.

The admission price for Malaysian Citizens is MYR 50, and the price for non-Malaysian citizens is MYR 120.

Admission is free for children under two years old. On the day of your visit, get access by presenting your e-voucher at the ticketing counter.

The Petronas Twin Towers are open from 9am to 9pm daily, except on Monday when they are closed. Last admission is at 8.30pm.

Note: During the Ramadan period, the opening hours are from 9am to 5pm (last admission at 4.30pm). Ramadan in 2023 will last from 22 Mar (Wed) to 20 Apr (Thu).


3. How to get to Petronas Twin Towers

The closest LRT station to the Petronas Twin Towers is KLCC Station, which is next to KLCC Park. Take the Kelana Jaya Line (the red line) to KLCC Station and walk ten minutes to get to the towers. The towers are right in front of the massive Suria KLCC mall so you can’t miss them.

Alternatively, you may take RapidKL City Bus B103 or B114 to get to the KLCC LRT Bus Stop. There is also a free bus service called GOKL City Bus. The GOKL City Bus Green Line runs from Bukit Bintang to KLCC, so you can use this service if you’re staying in Bukit Bintang.

To get to Petronas Twin Towers from Kuala Lumpur Airport, take the KLIA Ekspres train to KL Sentral Station. From KL Sentral Station, take the Kelana Jaya Line to KLCC Station. The total journey time is about 50 minutes.

4. Cross the SkyBridge

Located on the 41st and 42nd floors, the Petronas Twin Towers SkyBridge is the highest two-storey bridge in the world. Situated 170m above street level, it is an engineering marvel that can withstand strong wind and storms. The sky bridge is only partially attached to the twin towers, allowing space for small movements that prevent it from breaking off.

Walk along the sky bridge on the 41st floor to see the sprawling cityscape beneath your feet. The 42nd floor is only open to occupants.


5. Visit the KLCC Observation Deck

Continue your journey at the Petronas Twin Towers Observation Deck on the 86th floor, which is the third highest level (the towers have 88 floors). Here, you can enjoy panoramic views of the city skyline and admire the towers’ spires up close. The observation deck is equipped with telescopes that give you a viewing range of 7-8km. Landmarks visible from the deck include KLCC Park, the King’s Palace, and Titiwangsa Mountain Range.

After some sightseeing, you can learn about Kuala Lumpur’s urban development from detailed scale models that provide a bird’s eye view of the city. There are also interactive AR screens that provide information about the building’s structure and more.


6. Digital displays

On the 83rd floor, you can find digital displays that elaborate on the history and development of the twin towers in Kuala Lumpur. Here, watch informational videos that are both educational and entertaining.

You will learn many fun facts about the twin towers. For example, the towers’ stainless steel and glass floor plates are meant to resemble the eight pointed star found in Islamic designs. Also, when the towers were first built, they surpassed the Sears Tower in the USA to become the tallest buildings in the world.


7. Stop by the gift shop

The Petronas Twin Towers Gift Shop is located on the Concourse Level of Building 2. Come here to buy exclusive t-shirts, bags, and other merchandise as gifts for friends and family back home. The shop also sells official Petronas Twin Towers postcards that you can mail straight to your loved ones.

 

 


8. KLCC Lightshow

If you have time, stay behind after dark to catch the spectacular light show at KLCC Park. The Petronas Towers light show will amaze you with water jets shooting from the park’s fountain and colourful beams illuminating the city skyline.

The jets can reach a maximum height of 42m. There are two showtimes a day, 12pm-2pm and 6pm-11pm. On public holidays and weekends, you can catch the light show from 10am to 12 midnight. After watching the show, you can do some shopping at Suria KLCC mall or take a stroll through KLCC Park to wrap up your Kuala Lumpur city tour.
