KL Tower Tickets

The Kuala Lumpur Tower is arguably one of the most iconic buildings in Malaysia. However, beyond appearances, what’s there to see and do here?

1. What is so special about KL Tower?

Located in the heart of bustling Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the KL Tower is the tallest telecommunication tower in Southeast Asia, and the 7th tallest in the world. The 421m tall tower is recognisable even amidst the sea of skyscrapers in Kuala Lumpur and is arguably one of the most famous silhouettes of the city’s skyline.

But apart from being one of the most iconic towers in the world, KL Tower, or Menara KL to locals, is a hub for various cultural, adventure, and nature experiences. The tower was built in 1995 it and opened to the public in 1996. Since then, it has become one of the top tourist attractions in Malaysia.

The iconic tower head, which carries influence of Islamic architecture on the outside, features a public observation platform and a revolving restaurant. Elsewhere, you’ll find adrenaline-filled experiences, like a walk on the outside of the tower, interactive attractions, and even an adjoining forest!

2. What is the best time to visit KL Tower?

What is the best time to visit KL Tower?

The tower is open daily from 9am to 10pm. However, when exactly is the best time to check out this famous landmark? It really depends on what each visitor hopes to experience while at the tower.

But those who want make the most out of their KL Tower tickets must check out the view on the Sky Deck or at least experience the outdoor Tower Walk. Visitors should also try to visit during the nicest months in Malaysia — between February and September — when the weather in KL is dry with plenty of sunshine. Take note however, that these are also the hottest months in Malaysia.

3. What is inside KL Tower?

As mentioned, the tower isn’t just another piece of pretty architecture. Inside, there are plenty of experiences that await visitors. In fact, we recommend allocating at least two to three hours (including wait time for certain attractions) to properly explore everything.

An itinerary to discover KL Tower

1) Experience the thrill of Tower Walk 100: the tower’s newest adrenaline-filled attraction allows visitors to take a walk on the outside of the tower, 100 feet above the ground. As you set foot on the glass-transparent platform (with a safety harness), you’ll even hear audible cracks! Don’t worry though, because those are just sound effects that are part of the thrill – that’s worth the KL Tower tickets alone.

2) Take in the view from the Observation Deck and Sky Deck: If you prefer a more relaxing way to admire the view of Kuala Lumpur, head to the indoor Observation Deck (276m above ground) or the outdoor Sky Deck (300m above ground) which also house the Sky Cafe. We recommend visiting at night for a mesmerising view of the bustling city.

3) Capture IG-worthy photos at the Sky Box: The Sky Box at KL Tower is one of the city’s top Instagram spots. It extends out from the Sky Deck ledge and offers panoramic views of the city in a glass-encased platform. Strike a pose and grab your #potd with the KL skyline here.

4) See the animals at the KL Tower Mini Zoo: Located right next to the tower, the mini zoo features plenty of exotic animals. Here, you’ll find squirrel monkeys, colourful parrots, and even some giant pythons. It’s a fun attraction for both young and old. Alternatively, you can also visit Blue Coral Aquarium to see various exotic sea creatures.

5) Have fun at KL Tower Upside Down House: It is one of the newest things to do at the tower. Modelled after a traditional cottage house, everything inside is hung upside down, paving the way for plenty of wacky photos and interactive experiences.

6) Take a walk through KL Forest Eco Park: One extremely unique thing about the tower is that it is the only tower in the world that’s located within a forest, specifically the Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve, one of the oldest forest reserves in Malaysia.

While visiting this iconic landmark, spend some time crossing over to the adjacent ecotourism destination and explore this lush tropical rainforest. The Canopy Walk is especially fun!

7) Enjoy dinner with a view: Atmosphere 360 is the most famous KL Tower restaurant. Located 282m above ground, this revolving restaurant boasts a classy ambience, great food, and a mesmerising view of the Kuala Lumpur skyline. It is also here (during dinner time) where you can feast on the popular KL Tower buffet that many locals rave about.

There are also other food and beverage options on the ground floor and in the surrounding area.

Bonus: Admire the KL Tower Facade Lighting: On special occasions, such as Malaysia Day or National Day, the tower will be lit up from top to bottom in vibrant colours thanks to over 200 LED lights that cover the entire structure. Needless to say, it is incredibly beautiful and you don’t even need KL Tower tickets for this spectacle!

4. How much do KL Tower tickets cost?

A few things to note about the price of KL Tower tickets. The first is the difference in price between Malaysian and non-Malaysian visitors. More importantly is what your admission ticket covers.

The most basic KL Tower ticket starts from MYR 9.85 (Malaysian IC holder) and offers entry + one attraction.

For best value, we recommend purchasing combo KL Tower tickets that include entry, access to the Observation Deck, Sky Deck, Sky Box, and Tower Walk 100. These tickets will set you back around MYR 132.93 for Malaysians and MYR 154.57 for non-Malaysians. You can book your KL Tower tickets online here.

Take note that you will have to fork out extra for attractions like the KL Tower Mini Zoo, Blue Coral Aquarium, and to dine at Atmosphere 360.

5. How do I get there?

How do I get there?

There are several ways to get to KL Tower, the easiest of which is simply to hail a taxi or use an e-hailing app to get dropped off right at the entrance.

In terms of public transport, you can choose to ride monorail to Bukit Nanas Station or hop aboard the MRT to Dang Wangi MRT station. In both cases, you will need to walk 20 minutes uphill to reach the entrance.

A much better way is simply to take a ride on the KL Hop On, Hop Off Bus.
