Spots with the Best Views of Gold Coast

If you’re reading this, chances are something about the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia has already caught your attention. Is it the theme parks that this city is famous for? The awe-inspiring beaches and surf spots? How about the magical surrounding mountains and greenery? Whichever it is, know that you have made a great choice for an Australian holiday destination.

As packed as the Gold Coast is in all kinds of thrilling activities for you to take part in, no doubt you’ll be equally satisfied with simply admiring its beauty from various perspectives. With that being said, we’ve made the following list of the best spots to watch views of the Gold Coast to get you started.

1. Surfers Paradise

Known for its 3km-long golden shore, Surfers Paradise also happens to be a great jump-off point for many of the river cruises in eastern Australia. If you hop on the one that takes you to Southport Broadwater, you’ll be met with unmatched views of Sea World, Marina Mirage, and Palazzo Versace right from where you’re seated.

All these are happening as you explore the canal system that’s said to be larger than the ones you will find in Italy and the Netherlands. And while you’re at it, these cruises also come with food and drinks so you can make the most of the moments even more.

2. Q1 Tower

The Q1 Tower of the Gold Coast is practically a staple when it comes to places to see spectacular views of this side of Australia. Perched on the 77th floor of the iconic structure, the SkyPoint Observation Deck remains unrivalled in offering exactly that from a height of 230m.

But don’t expect to just witness the sights of the Gold Coast beaches and its urban jungle. From this vantage point, it’s also impossible to miss Brisbane, Byron Bay, and even the mountains rising up from the Gold Coast Hinterland. Enjoy these and more with a cocktail in hand courtesy of the on-site bistro and bar.

3. Main Beach

Standing from the Gold Coast’s tallest viewing deck still not enough? By all means, opt for an epic tour of the city all the way from the skies, on a helicopter no less. Be warned though, this is not for the faint-hearted. From the rotorcraft which departs from the Main Beach, you’ll have to skydive from at least 10,000ft in the air to witness what not a lot of people can even get close to seeing if they were on land.

Aside from Surfers Paradise beneath you, you can catch an unparalleled view of nearby Brisbane and the vast Pacific Ocean, all the while experiencing one of the greatest thrills of all time.

4. Tamborine Mountain

Set in the heart of the Gold Coast Hinterland, Tamborine Mountain is a less exhilarating option if you want to take in views of the city away from the hustle and bustle. Although, that’s not to say there are no opportunities here to get your adrenaline pumping as you enjoy the beauty of where you’re at in Queensland.

Get yourself on one of the flying foxes (another name for zip line) and literally fly across trees where you can get a spectacular bird’s eye view of the lush greenery below, as well as the Gold Coast skyline from a distant. If not, the mountain is also home to canopy walks and even wineries, each with its own vistas to offer.

5. Cape Byron Distillery

The beauty of the Gold Coast doesn’t rest in its buildings, canals, and golden sands alone. If you have a bit more time on your hands, a great way to see the city from a whole new point of view is by venturing further out from downtown and into the Byron Bay area.

Here, you’ll come upon Cape Byron Distillery, which makes the celebrated Brookie’s Dry Gin. Tours here are mainly for a gin tasting. But in doing so, you’ll also be treated to views of the surrounding backcountry that makes up the Gold Coast’s 100,000ha of world heritage-listed rainforests. Gin and views? There can be no better combination.Sure, you’re also free to admire the Gold Coast from typical spots like Burleigh Heads and Currumbin. But if you really want to make the most of scenery and experiences which save you time and budget, then these Gold Coast viewing spots are true top tiers. Tell us, which are you most likely to find yourself in?
